RBMA. Brainfeeder London. Wednesday, March 10th. @ Fabric, 77a Charterhouse St, Clerkenwell, EC1M 3HN, 9pm - 3am

ROOM ONE:
Flying Lotus (Brainfeeder, Warp, Los Angeles)
Kode9 (Hyperdub, London)
J.Rocc (Stones Throw, Los Angeles)
The Gaslamp Killer (Brainfeeder, Low End Theory, Los Angeles)
Martyn (3024, Washington DC)
Dorian Concept (Kindred Spirits, Vienna)
Dimlite (Now-Again, Bern)

Nosaj Thing (Brainfeeder, Alpha Pup, Los Angeles)
TOKiMONSTA (Brainfeeder, Los Angeles)

Red Bull Music Academy, our kindred souls on a similar mission to harvest musical growth and development, never do anything half heartedly. As their hallowed Academy takes London by storm over the next month, they are bringing back the art of collaboration: celebrating music talents old and new, lining up a myriad of innovative events and even putting together a daily music newspaper distributed at tube stations, venues and record shops. It’s with this same passionate spirit that we’ll be teaming up with them for a very special run of quarterly events.

To kick things off proper, on 10 March we’ll be transporting Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder family from Los Angeles’ underground to our own Farringdon, Room One basement. Once a RBMA participant himself (Melbourne, 2006), Flying Lotus will be bringing his much lauded hyperkinetic live show to the stage, alongside an immense collective of likeminded musical revolutionaries.

All descriptions of a Brainfeeder session reflect a similar notion – it’s something that has to be experienced firsthand to really be understood. Holding down the grand Downtown Independent movie theatre for their LA takeovers – and occasionally crossing European borders for other adventures - the Brainfeeder crew takes each show deep into the most unexpected of places; smashing expectations and bassbins simultaneously with a sultry force and a seldom seen kind of improvised grace. A Brainfeeder showcase is a full-on audio visual assault, matching imagistic explorations with each unique artist’s explosively picturesque soundworlds.

Fuelled by his usual bold artistic motives, Flying Lotus has decided to throw all of the artists on one stage, packing the bill tightly with rapid, intense sets. Pushing creativity to the forefront, expect energy unparalleled – and uninterrupted - for six hours straight. With a lineup that serves as a veritable snapshot of the electronic music world, especially the enthralling beats-oriented movement rising out of LA, the RBMA/Brainfeeder session at fabric will be more than just a show; it’ll be a wild, next-level fusion of beats, sounds, visuals, styles, imaginations and art. An experience like no other.

Nervous Records. Nervous Records & Louie Vega present: Ananésworld Album Launch Party. Thursday, March 11th. @ Ministry Of Sound, 103 Gaunt Street, Elephant & Castle, London, SE1 6DP, 10pm - 4am

Louie Vega
Norman Jay
Gilles Peterson
Live performance by Anané

The singer, songwriter, producer and DJ Anané launches her new album Ananésworld’ at Ministry Of Sound with the help of Louie Vega, Norman Jay and Gilles Peterson. This album follows her 2006 debut album ‘Ananéselections’; a mixture of dance, reggae, rock, R&B soul, world and Caribbean influences. She is a producer and songwriter who made a name for herself with her edgy remake of the 1970s classic ‘Let Me Love You’ by Bunny Mack, as well as her emotional version of Yoko Ono’s ‘Walking On Thin Ice’.

She has co-written nine of the songs with Grammy Award Winner Lisa Fischer, Duane Harden, Lem Springsteen, Kalu Montiero and Djim Djob. Music has been in Anané’s blood since her childhood in Santiago, capital of West African Cape Verde. Anané brought her talents to New York City armed with nothing more than a bag full of clothes and a heart full of dreams. There, she immersed herself in the city’s club culture where she met Producer/DJ/Grammy Award Winner Louie Vega who tapped her as an integral member of the Elements of Life Collective.

Described by Billboard Magazine as “combining earthiness with glamour and roots-deep house music knowledge with pop wise diversity,” Anané has forged an international career that has included appearances at Japan’s Blue Note Festival, Europe’s Montreux Jazz Festival, Finland’s Pori Jazz, Holland’s North Sea Jazz Festival, Cape Town’s Jazz and Britain’s Womad Festival. Cirque Du Soleil invited Anané to perform the opening song for the Super Bowl XLII pre-game show. Her performance of ‘One Dream’ was seen by more than 140 million people worldwide.

Anané is also an entrepreneur and philanthropist. She’s been involved in NextAid, an organization for African children who have lost parents to AIDS, as well as the Anané Vega Scholarship Fund.

‘Ananésworld’ will have a global release in April 2010 on Nervous Records. “It’s the essence of who I am,” she said of the project. “These are my hopes, my aspirations and my dreams. It’s my global expression; soundtracks to moments in my life”.

Things are hotting up over at BLOC HQ as we steam roll towards 2010. Renowned for being eclectic, forward-thinking and truly inspirational, BLOC have built a reputation on breaking new talent along side hand pick legends and musical icons; and next year will be no different!

We are delighted to announce just a taste of what's in store for next year's ground breaking BLOC.

Making their BLOC debut, is a major player in UK music, and one with almost unique longevity in a genre in which people usually produce one or two greatalbums and then vanish. Roots Manuva sums this fearless approach which means hecontinues to be one of the most vital, exciting, honest artists working in the UK today. Huge plans are a foot for next year with Mercury Music Price winner Speech Debelle.

Adam Beyer has become synonymous with the techno sound of Sweden, which has quite literally shaken the world since the mid-nineties. From the driving percussive force of his Drum Code label to the more open electronic miasma on his current Truesoul and Mad Eye imprints, Beyer remains one of the biggest and most influential producer/DJs on the planet.

Blip, Buzz, Zap - Sean Booth & Rob Brown the two knob-twiddlers behind Autechre, are along the leaders of the electronica renaissance of the mid - 90's. Blending 70's pioneers such as Kraftwerk and Brian Eno with avantgarde noise and the block-rocking intensity of 80's Hip-Hop and electro-funk. Next up are two underground legends from BLOC, after another storming show back in March, Soundtracking the sounds of suburban (Croydon)Skream & Benga trademark minimal sound found a resounding ear with urban youth across the world.

Gravity-defying beats and pads, all buoyed by a tidal wave of sub bass! Whether it's moulding cosmic Indian flavours, electro dancehall, or skankinï reggae ï¿_ it all gets squeezed through the Skream & Benga filter and ends up sounding like itï¿_s been beamed from the dark side of some asteroid. Finally, one of our many headlines across the weekend will be presenting a full live show for the first time in years. Salt-n-Pepa featuring the original lineup - Cheryl James ("Salt" now Cheryl Wray) Sandra Denton ("Pepa"), and DJ Spinderalla Deidra "Dee Dee" Roper. The group has sold over 15 million albums and singles worldwide.

Salt-N-Pepa is the bestselling female rap group and six of their single releases have been certified either platinum or gold in America by the RIAA."Push It" sold over a million copies, topped the R&B and rap charts and earned the women their first grammy nomination for best rap performance. This will be there first LIVE show in the UK for nearly ten years! This is a show not to be missed, welcome to BLOC ladies!

Attracting talent from around the globe and provides an opportunity for internationally renowned performers to play alongside the ground-breakingstars of tomorrow, this is just the tip of the iceberg for BLOC 2010.

Once again BLOC exceeded the expectations of UK's most discerning audience in only its third year. With a sold-out audience of over 5000 attendees to what must be the UK's most modern day music festival in every sense, whilst sending ripples through the music industry.

Ekstravaganza. Ekstravaganza 3 - Prins Thomas Album Launch Party. Friday, March 12th. @ Corsica Studios, Corsica Arts Club, 5 Elephant Road. London SE17 1LB, 10pm - 6am

After November’s Ekstravaganza truly lived up to its name with a rare London set from nu-disco legend Lindstrom, Corsica Studios and Full Pupp come together once more to host the launch party for Prins Thomas’ debut solo album.

Intrinsically linked to the ‘cosmic-disco’ sound that has spread out from his native Norway to dominate clubs worldwide, Thomas has already been responsible for two of the scene’s best albums, both recorded with longtime studio partner Hans Peter Lindstrom.

Recorded straight after the sessions for the Lindstrom & Prins Thomas II album, the eponymously titled release is a sumptuous set of seven sprawling, ever-evolving, head-nodding, navel-gazing, body-moving, mind-mushing tracks perfectly assembled for an hour-long trip.

Embarking on a world tour to promote the album, Thomas has once again hand picked a lineup featuring some of the most respected DJs and producers from around the world to join him at his only UK residency at Corsica Studios, recently voted Britains best small club in DJ Magazine.

In the main room alongside Thomas you’ll find fellow Norwegian and Full Pupp star Espen Haa, and playing live Hamburg’s Tensnake, currently setting dancefloors on fire with the ridiculously good Coma Cat 12”.

In the back room the international hook up continues with the weird and wonderful sounds of London duo Psychemagik, Dubby, the boss of Feldman Records and buyer for Tokyo’s legendary Cisco Records and Berlin’s Hunee, another protégé of Thomas on his Internasjonal label.

Jazz Cafe. The Bays. Friday, March 12th. @ Jazz Cafe, 5, Parkway, Camden, London, NW1 7PG , 7pm - late

Forget every rule you've ever been taught about live music!

Ignore every outmoded notion of what it is to be a 'live' band!

Forget even what you think 'live music' actually means!

What drives this band is the need to communicate with thier audience in a way not possible with traditional live bands. There are no 'songs' as such to perform, there is no album to promote, there are no commercial imperatives at play.
The Bays only perform live, they never rehearse, they dont have a set-list and they couldnt ever do the same performance twice. It is about the moment-an experience or an event that exists between the band and the audience for one time only.

Shoplifter. Shoplifter w/ Craig Richards. Friday, March 12th. @ Horse & Groom, Curtain Road, Shoreditch, London, EC2A, 9pm - 4am

Last year burst onto the London dance scene with a series of parties at T bar.

Guests included The Revenge, Trus’me, Jamie Jones and Intergalactic Gary.

So with great pleasure and excitement we are pleased to announce a new monthly pub party for people with light fingers and discerning ears - The dishonest debut of Shoplifter at Shoreditch watering hole The Horse and Groom, well known around the manor as a lovely old boozer on two floors with a great soundsystem.

Your hosts will be repeat offenders Derren Smart and Craig Richards providing an obscure and dislocated blend of funk, soul and disco.

For the first installment light fingered guests will appear in the form of Jonny Rock and James Baillie [the hustler].

Jonny Rock, all round entertainer, former chippendale with fellow DJs like Rob Mello and Dave Congrave alongside Heir Styles at the infamous dig your own rave parties at the former T Bar , also has a disco funk soul base recipe he mainly gets a chance to cook on his weekly beach parties in turkey throughout summer , finally finding outlet to share his moods and grooves with fellow disco lovers at the shoplifter , dropping various ingredients

Introducing the infamous James Baillie preference of disco in a more Cosmic- Deep n Heady- Off Centre to Acidic stance......something with a flick knife in it's pocket waiting to carve your brain up...............The Hustler is here

Join as at our new home for disco delights and forgotten memories

Prepare to be indulged in a night of relentless revelry as Tales of the Unexpected hits Friday nights in the capital. With a mission statement that promises to conjure up a world of escapism and unbridled fun, thrill seekers and music lovers everywhere will be spoilt wicked..

The evenings will be a move away from indie and the music will contain elements of folk, electro and pop providing the soundtrack to the night.

The venue will be subject to full decorations; anticipate a dark circus theme, with a gypsy caravan, flame throwers, a carousel seating area, intriguing performers, hanging lanterns, psychedelic and beguiling dancers- all led by our own motley crew of ring-masters.

In the South Gallery there will be a compelling mixture of electro-fuelled party anthems from All Night Long DJ's Ben & Gaz playing the best tracks of yester-year to keep everyone on the dance floor. DarkStarr. DarkStarr w/ Ashley Beedle and Cosmo. Saturday, March 13th. @ The Horatia, 98-102 Holloway Road,London, N7, 7.30pm - 3am

DarkStarr is Ashley Beedle and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, and this month they relaunch their residency at North London’s The Horatia – a brand new venue which has already been graced by the likes of Faze Action, Trojan Soundsytem and the Idjut Boys .

'Cosmic Disco' 'Acid House' 'Psychedelic' 'Balearic' - these are the overused and misunderstood terms used to hype today’s dance music scene and Ashley Beedle and Cosmo give this music the respect it deserves whilst putting the soul back into the party.

With their incomparable experience Ashley and Cosmo stand in a class of their own. Ashley has been London’s premier Soul Boy for decades. His work under the monikers of X Press 2 (with Rocky and Diesel), Black Science Orchestra, Heavy Disco and Ballistic Brothers proves Ashley is one the few DJ/producers that can be both diverse and credible at the same time.

Cosmo draws on her heritage from the other side of the pond. The legacy of her tutelage under David Mancuso at The Loft is unique within today’s generation of DJs and her New York City radio shows of house, disco and psychedelic rock tuned in and turned on a generation of new listeners from the late 80’s onwards.

DarkStarr sees Ashley and Cosmo reviving celebrated New York / London traditions, bringing the vibe to dance floors across the UK and beyond as well as to a slew of new remixes and a new compilation that is due out this April on Out Hear Audio. Also look out for their remixes of Candi Staton’s ‘Revolution’ and Salvador Santana’s ‘Just Do It’, both due for vinyl release on Cosmo’s Bitches Brew imprint this summer.

Drawing on Cosmo’s experiences at the Loft and Body & Soul, DarkStarr has the DJs playing together as a one-on-one stream of consciousness rather than sets that break up and fragment the vibe. They play without boundaries and let the music do the talking, playing records in full and letting them tell a story.

DarkStarr - putting the funk and soul back into the party.

Oh, and it's FREE, alllll night long!

After a riotous start to the year with Andrew Weatherall dropping punk-funk bombs to nearly 700 revelers, Sweatshop marks its second year anniversary with another London first from one of the hottest new acts recent years. 6th Borough Project, forming of Graeme Clark AKA The Revenge and Craig Smith are making their debut decks and effects set, that’s set to see them tour worldwide in the forthcoming months. This is the first chance to see these folks together in the London, with them taking over the basement all night long… kicking off which a special ‘Connoisseur’s selection’ from Craig Smith of retro disco, funk and soul.

The 6th Borough Project started life in 2007, and has since seen them set up their Instruments Of Rapture label (one of the biggest selling vinyl labels of the last few years), record for Delusions Of Grandeur & Permanent Vacation and remix the likes of Atmosphere and The Sunburst Band and many more. They thought it was time to take it up a notch and start to take their infamous pitched down take on deep house and disco on the road. This event marks the launch of their latest offering ‘Part 5’ on their fantastic Instruments Of Rapture label… expect giveaways on the night!

So, Supefreq is back after February's birthday celebrations with 1 hell of a party for the March edition of E'special.

The simply amazing Alexi Delano from +8, Clink, ADNY, Ransom Note etc etc etc, is coming to grace Superfreq E'special with his incredible mixing style, forward thinking beats & proper party attitude. It's all too easy to go dancing to the normal but why settle for the present & normal when with Alexi Delano you get more than just a glimpse of the future, you get transported into another dimension. His music is upfront, funky, trippy & downright sexy so for sure, as usual, he's going to blow the roof off.

Joining this turntable genius will of course be resident & head honcho Mr.C who's back in the UK to do this & Superfreq Southampton at Junk Club where he’s joined by French Maestro Dan Ghenacia, Sam Russo & Resh. Mr.C is completely on fire right now & has been smashing it over in his new homeland of USA & beyond demonstrating why his new releases on Wagon Repair, Poker Flat & Hallucination Ltd have been causing such a stir.

Mr.C's Superfreq partner & resident Luke vB will be celebrating his birthday, which can only mean 1 thing....
.... Trouble. Luke's been completely rocking Superfreq & his last few sets have been absolutely mind blowing so we expect more of the same & then some for his birthday. I'm sure he has a few surprises up his sleeve to wow you with again.

Finally those gorgeous Dollz At Play are back. It's not often they play together nowadays as they're living in different continents so expect something special. Bea Tricks is showing her worth with her fabulous Solo release on Wagon Repair & Xo-Chic has really started to make waves in Los Angeles. Expect only the sexiest upfront beats & bass lines & more than a fair share of glamour from our beautiful Dollz who complete this amazing line up.

Mooch. Mooch. Saturday, March 13th. @ Horse & Groom, 28 Curtain Road, London, EC1, 8pm - 4am

There was certainly something in the air for all the MOOCH familiar when Chris Finke & (new resident) Nick Subkulture rocked the decks at our favourite east end stable....So carrying on the MOOCH tradition of celebrating 'that' time of the month, we invite you down for a Pre St.Patrick's day knee's up. Providing the entertainment on the eve, a favourite of MOOCH's 2009 bookings, giving him the (long over due) prime time slot, please raise your Guinness n whiskey chasers to the patron Saint of the Emerald Isle, while getting yer Michael Flatley styley jig on.... to our Lord of the Dance....

Mouj (Alive/Jaded)

A DJ career starting at the infamous High Tide boat parties playing alongside the likes of James Zabiela & Nic Fancuilli, then moving onto Alive Recordings parties alongside label head honcho Tom Budden, bringing it closer to home here in London has seen Mouj becoming one of the much loved Jaded residents along side Raymundo Rodriguez. His energy and clean cut mixing of his early morning sets @ AKA/Ghost have become reason why many an afterparty punter will happily forfeit their Sunday roast. Famous for his acid house finales and his completely irreverent mixing of genres and decades, becoming a name with an infectious vibe you cannot ignore! Taking his music philosophy from behind the decks to the studio 2009 saw a remix for Groove Armada under his belt while looking forward to the rest of 2010 keep an eye out for releases out on ALiVE, Electric Sheep Recordings & Cubism

Catch residents Natalie Coleman bashing her bodhrán, Yellowcake fiddling his fiddle and not forgetting Johnnycash tooting on his whistle, as always providing the support on the eve of, moody minimal and playful techno.......Finally if that wasn't enough bang for your buck “This is Not a Rave” Bring their regular electro house craziness to upstairs inviting guests: Lorcan Mak (kitsune) & Buster Bennett (nuke Them All) ...so all bases covered then?!

Line up:-

Mouj (Alive/Jaded)
Natalie Coleman (Redlight)
Yellowcake (KSS Records)
Johnnycash (Resident)

APOCALYPSO. APOCALYPSO 3rd Birthday w/ Will Saul, Mowgli and more. Saturday, March 13th. @ Queen of Hoxton, Curtain Road, London, EC2A, pm - 4am

Its our 3rd birthday!!

...and to celebrate, we have a 4AM licence and a hum dinging line-up...

WILL SAUL (Simple Records/Aus)
MOWGLI (Deadfish Records)
DEKKER (Apocalypso)
JOHN & ON (Always Fridays)
SNAP ANT (Ninja Tune)
STEVE BLISS (Black Rainbow)
FLEXMASTER (Catskills Records)
MARCUS HARRIS (White Heat)
MATT FEAR (Moored in Miami)

Lets get straight down to business....

WILL SAUL - one of house music's most respected operators and October's DJ Magazine cover star. His two labels, Simple and Aus, have been putting out consistent quality for almost a decade and are currently hotter than ever with a spate of recent and forthcoming releases from the likes of Joy Orbison, Cooly G, Mike Monday & Appleblim. His own production work (both solo and with collaborators Tam Cooper and Mike Monday) has produced deep gems like "Mbira" and the recent stunning remix of The Juan Maclean's "Happy House" on DFA. This is a DJ with a real breadth of knowledge across electronic music and its proto-genres, reflected in his recent, universally acclaimed, triple mix CD in the Balance series: taking in the full spectrum of house, techno and dubstep flavours, its a masterpiece. The chance to see him work his magic live (especially in such an intimate setting) should not be missed.

MOWGLI - on paper there are a lot of similarities between our two stellar headliners, but they come at it from different angles - and that's what makes this line-up so exciting. Michele Savasta (aka Mowgli) also runs his own highly respected label (Deadfish) which has been churning out massive releases from white-hot producers like Solo, Round Table Knights, Camel and Zombie Disco Squad. He too is a producer and remixer du jour (massive props for his work from Brodinski, Style of Eye, DJ Hell, Crookers, etc). He too runs the gamut of house and techno in his lauded, highly technical DJ sets. But whilst Will Saul is all about the deep, melodic grooves, Mowgli's ethos is firmly rooted in the party. This is techno-hop on steroids, and ketamin. Your hands should prepare for the air.

Support across two floors comes from an incredible bevy of talent: basement residents DEKKER and JOHN & ON will be keeping things on lock with booty-techno, acid and good vibes, whilst upstairs welcomes the return of Ninja Tune's SNAP ANT who blew our minds two months ago with an incredible musical journey through, hip hop, pop music, psych rock and everything else good in between.

Joining Mr Ant and resident genius and Zuul-merchant STEVE BLISS, are our friends FLEXMASTER of Catskills Records and MARCUS HARRIS and MATT FEAR from great parties White Heat and Moored in Miami, respectively.

This promises to be the best Apocalypso yet, and an incredible musical experiment to boot.

And we're keeping it at the standard £5 cover charge for the whole night!

The Blitz Party. The Blitz Party. Saturday, March 13th. @ Village Underground, 54 Holywell Lane, London, EC2A, 8pm - 3am

RUN FOR SHELTER to the new 1940s night that's just brimming with community spirit!

Ladies, don your lipstick and tea-dresses and draw on those stockings. Men dust off your medals and wave your Union Jack with pride. Blitz Party is set to be London’s hottest new night, where cocktails, dancing and neighbourly spirit are the order of the evening.

Make your way to a wartime East End air shelter, complete with sandbags, searchlights, blackout curtains, oil lamps and military bunk beds. Ration books replace bar tabs and scarce provisions line the walls.

Spread under two arches, the rooms will host the UK’s finest live swing bands, performers and DJs. Big band tunes play for fun-loving party girls who long to share a Gin French with a handsome man in uniform. The Spitfire Bar serves good old Kentish Ale and hearty food to hungry soldiers, and another room will project original newsreels and wartime films, accompanied by live music.

Dress Code – 1940s glam, home front utility clothing and allied uniform all welcome

SOULS OF MISCHIEF

Classic “93 til infinity” hip-hop group launch brand new album

+ Skandal (www.myspace.com/skumbagskandal)

+ Genesis Elijah (www.myspace.com/genesiselijah)

+ DJ's Sarah Love & Charlee Brown

SOULS OF MISCHIEF, a group that has built a notoriously strong global fan base, since the 1993 release of their first certified hip hop classic Jive Records album ’93 TILL INFINITY’, return with hip hop royalty and producer extraordinaire PRINCE PAUL [DE LA SOUL / GRAVEDIGGAZ / HANDSOME BOY MODELLING SCHOOL / STETASONIC].

The new album, to be released in Spring 2010, comes off the back of a massive US & European tour that took in all the major countries / states including Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin & a roadblock instore at the CARHARTT STORE in London’s Covent Garden. Joining the fab four on the road were PRINCE PAUL himself and TAJAI’S latest signing to his own imprint, CLEAR LABEL, DEEPROOTED.

For those not in the know SOULS OF MISCHIEF are an alternative hip-hop group hailing from Oakland, CA. Also part of the hip-hop collective HIEROGLYPHICS. THE SOULS OF MISCHIEF formed in 1991 and are comprised of emcees A-PLUS, OPIO, PHESTO, and TAJAI. As a group, SOM have released 4 critically acclaimed albums and have been certified Gold by the RIAA. Their newest long awaited release MONTEZUMA’S REVENGE will be dropping on their very own HIERO IMPERIUM RECORDS. Having left the Jive Record situation they set up on their own and changed the game forming a fresh blueprint for many Independent hip hop labels of the last fifteen years.

Brand new album MONTEZUMA’S REVENGE is definitely a product of such creative freedom and legendary producer PRINCE PAUL only added fuel to the four emcee’s melting pot as Opio recalls…”working with Paul was a dream…he’s just so talented it was a real buzz, we knew we had to be on point!” with most sessions being done remotely these days he continues to spread light on their process “Paul just came down to the Montezuma House our spot in Oakland…we just locked ourselves in and boom! This is was what came out!”

Jaded. Jaded at Cable ft PIERCE (Get Physical) MASSIMO LICARI WEIRDO POLICE (Live). Sunday, March 14th. @ Cable, 33A Bermondsey Street, London, SE1, 5am - 1pm

Joining RAYMUNDO RODRIGUEZ in the Main Room will be
PIERCE (Get Physical)
MASSIMO LICARI (M+H)
2 SURPRISE GUESTS

Joining MOUJ In Cable's Bar with Deep House and Cosmic Disco
WEIRDO POLICE (LIVE)
MAT PLAYFORD (Social Problem)
LOSTBAHNHOF

We're taking a breather this Sunday to let all 700+ of you recover from the Launch of a new era for Jaded. The next Jaded at Cable is on 14th March. We are DREAMING of getting back into that space... We hope you will go for the line up - one whose headliners excite us just as much as the prospect of hearing from Inxec and Marc Ashken did on the launch.

PIERCE flies in from Cologne especially to play Jaded. The Noir / Get Physical / Trapez / Blufin star is such a DJs' favourite we're hoping to have another amazing turn out of music people for this one.

MASSIMO LICARI, Minimal Hospital founder and DJ of the moment, will be making his Jaded debut. Cable's main room was made for his sound... He'll be following on from M+H's Music is Happiness party at The Doors, where he'll be playing alongside DJ Wild, Toni D, Nicola Tola, Antonio Castello and Maura. Make sure you get down and show him and the M+H posse some love there first.

RAYMUNDO RODRIGUEZ is still a bit overwhelmed from all the love last Sunday, he'll be opening and closing procedings in the main room yet again...

In Cable's bright and naughty Bar we're staying very much on the Deep and Cosmic path after an amazing response to the room on our launch. WEIRDO POLICE will be performing LIVE, so we should see the intimate space erupt with a wild good vibes atmosphere yet again. MAT PLAYFORD will be playing an epic 3 hour set. The Playford mix of Josh 1 Contemplation is an all-time recognised Jaded tuuune, and the lush cosmic grooves on his fan page are replayed time and time again at Jaded towers, so we we're very pleased Mat's playing during our launch month. (He's just been made Space Ibiza resident so the man should be celebrating).

MOUJ after playing the opening of Jaded and an amazing joint finale with Raymundo, has been persuaded to return early to wreck the finger buffet once more. Sneaking in to play the opening 2 hours like a deep house cat burglar

LOSTBAHNHOF work on the principle that anything goes as long as it keeps people dancing, whatever time of the morning, evening or afternoon it may be, they bring a unique ability to pull out the never-heard-before gems dug out of dusty basements that sound instantly familiar. Expect to hear a mixture of acid disco, twisted pop, rolling Chicago house and sublime cosmic bumps.

Fuse. Fuse Back Room Session with Dj Wild, Pagal, Matt Tolfrey & Inxec. Sunday, March 14th. @ 93 Feet East, 150 Brick Lane, London, E1 6RU, 12pm - 10.30pm

DJ W!ld
Pagal
Matt Tolfrey + Inxec
Ethyl
Enzo Siragusa

After tINI, Leon and Geddes joined Enzo for our first heavy back room session last month, we return with another stellar underground line up. There is something about that room that just conjures up a proper rave spirit, as we witnessed yet again recently when Martinez tore the place apart.

Anyone who caught his mental set at the Fuse rave will be excited by DJ W!ld's first appearance at 93. With his own unique sound and style he is equally hot as a producer with releases on labels like Love letters from Oslo, Motivbank, OFF, Robsoul, Soweso and his very own label Catwash. The stage in the back room at 93 was made for a character such as this, 93 better get ready!

Pagal is simply a legend in Romania, he's not just one of their best DJs, but one of the best DJs in Europe. The fact that he isn't better known internationally is because he has decided to stay true to his Romanian roots and is helping to build a great scene in his homeland. All of this makes his set at this Fuse party all the more special. Don't miss this opportunity to witness a rare DJ talent.

No stranger to Fuse at 93, this will however be Matt Tolfrey's first set in the back room, and I for one simply cant wait. He has been a regular guest for over a year at Fuse, and has always rocked it. For this party he will be joined by long time cohort Inxec. With some excellent releases on Contexterrior and future productions coming out on Cocoon this young Brit is a rising star on the international scene, and will no doubt be up for the challenge of taking to the stage in the Fuse back room.

While its all going off in the back room, we couldn't leave our spiritual space at the front untouched and unloved, so we'll be calling on the considerably deep sounds of Cecille star Ethyl for a very special four hour set. Offsetting the unbridled rave sensation that Enzo, DJ Wild, Pagal, Matt Tolfrey + Inxec will be conjuring up, Ethyl will summon up all the warmth that d&b sound system has to offer, and head off on a four hour journey into the very depths of house music.

The Fuse Back Room Session is back, just get down early and get involved!

Warp. Grizzly Bear. Sunday, March 14th. @ The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Road, London, NW1 8EH, From 7pm...

The fantastic Grizzly Bear will continue their current run of success with their largest London headline show to date.

Grizzly Bear released Yellow House in 2006. It was a slow, steady and stunning ride—boundless in scope and elegance. Given the album's otherworldly charm and staying power, it's hard to believe three years have gone by. There is an unbelievable clarity of sound and vision to new album Veckatimest: vocals (a duty now shared by all band members) are sharper and more complex, arrangements are tighter, production is more venturous and lyrics more affecting. Having opened the creative dialogue at such an early stage, Grizzly Bear was able to realize these 12 songs together as a band, making it their most collaboratively compositional album to date.

This yielded an unexpected mix of material that feels more confident, mature, focused—and most of all, dynamic. Veckatimest is an album of the highest highs and lowest lows—an unbelievably diverse collection of songs that celebrates the strength of each band member, and the power of the whole. It was well worth the wait.

A Special Edition of Veckatimest will be released on November 2nd on Warp Records, adding 7 live session tracks and a photobooklet to this acclaimed album.

Warm. Warm with Sebo K & Marcus Worgull. Friday, March 19th. @ Plastic People, 147-149 Curtain Road, Old Street, EC2A 3QE, 10pm - 4am

Warm continue their exclusive monthly Plastic People residency on Friday March 19th with sets from Sebo K and Marcus Worgull.

Sebo K has been an integral figure of the Berlin music scene since the early 1990s. Starting out with an enthusiasm for early hip-hop and the nascent break-beat scene, he quickly established – alongside another future star, Dixon – his reputation as a DJ who consistently delivers the goods. By the end of the ‘90s his taste for breaks had morphed into a love affair with house music, and in 2002 he first turned his hand to production. In the following decade he proceeded to craft a series of releases that are the definition of quality over quantity. At the centre of his output is his relationship with Mobilee, whose reputation as one of the most essential German imprints of recent times is largely down to Sebo’s expertly crafted productions. Since 2002 he has held a residency at Berlin’s famed Watergate club, and alongside his releases on Get Physical and Cécille his ‘Watergate 4’ mix was among the best releases of last year, proving that Sebo is still right at the top of his game.

Joining Sebo K is Marcus Worgull. Owner of Cologne’s Groove Attack record shop, and always the ace up Innervisions’ sleeve, Marcus’s reputation as a selector is second to none. His productions and remixes have graced the grooves of releases on Innervisions, DFA, and Compost, and his recent mix for Resident Advisor only goes to prove his deep genre-spanning musical knowledge. Hearing these two together is going to be very special indeed!

Joining Sebo K and Marcus Worgull will be the Warm Residents themselves Ali Tillett and Rob Summerhayes.

Make Me. Make Me w/ MARK HENNING. Friday, March 19th. @ The Russian, 267 Kingsland Road, London, E2 8AS, 10pm - 4.30am

For our March party, we are very excited to be inviting a true international star to The Russian for another session of deep techno and unhinged antics. Bringing the beats will be...

MARK HENNING (Soma, Hypercolour, Cynosure)

Mark has risen up as one of the underground's true players - recording for a volley of acclaimed international labels. Having released his debut album ‘Jupiter Jive’ on legendary UK institution Soma Recordings in the summer of 2008 to great acclaim, followed up with eight EPs in 2009, Mark is busy DJing and touring his Live PA all over the world. This is one artist who is really breaking out of the mould, having been picked out as a nominee for DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards for Best Breakthrough DJ 2009.

Mark's productions have been making serious waves in the scene - anyone who's heard his music will know he doesn't abide by the book. His sound sits somewhere between house and techno, with a healthy dose of groove, swing, deepness and weirdness - all the required ingredients to have the Make Me crowd busting crazy moves on the dancefloor.

He has established his artist career not just through his productions – on well-regarded labels such as Soma, Frankie, Clink, Om, Cynosure, Trapez, Freude am Tanzen, Hypercolour and Einmaleins - but also through his worldwide performances, having been booked at clubs such as Fabric, Panorama Bar, Privilege, Bar 25, La Terrrazza, T-Bar, The Egg, Space, Watergate, The Arches and Harry Klein.

TRUSS (Dumb Unit, Synewave) - LIVE SET

Truss was born and bred in a small hill top village surrounded by sheep on the outskirts of Cardiff in South Wales. He now lives in North London working on music for film and tv as well as releasing music on labels such as Miniscule, Dumb-Unit, Synewave, Thema, Perc Trax and Prologue. He's a shit hot DJ, but this month he's going to grace Make Me with an exclusive look at his brand new live set.

FABIO TETI (Apertivo, Ctrl_Alt_Del)

A regular feature at Make Me and nights such as Ctrl_Alt_Del and his own Apertivo parties, as well as hitting every after hours that London and Ibiza has to offer; Fabio's looped, hypnotic deep house and techno is guaranteed to blow you away.

More TBC..

MAKE ME Residents as always providing the slickness, the deepness, the badness and the sickness.

See you down the front!

An avid record collector since his teens, Primecuts was a regular at the now long defunct Groove Records store in Soho… ‘I’d literally go without lunch at school for a week to get the £4.99 I’d need for a record that Saturday’… This music obsession continued into the field of scratching and what began as a hobby would eventually lead to him quitting his job (…’I got sacked…deliberately’) and working full time as a Dj.
Primecuts has won four world titles, two as part of the Scratch Perverts team victories and two in solo efforts winning the coveted ITF world scratching crown, beating Atrak back in 1999 and then retaining the title in 2000.
Now working on his own productions at his studio in Crystal Palace, Primecuts has had continuing success with the massive dubstep remix of Foreign Beggars ‘Gash’ and recently had two of his tunes featured in the bafta nominated film London to Brighton.

He is joined by SDM residents for this unique 7" only record party.

COLONY. COLONY feat. Kasra. Saturday, March 20th. @ THE RUSSIAN, 267 KINGSLAND RD, LONDON, E2 8AS, 10pm - 5am

COLONY | SATURDAY 20TH MARCH

FEAT. KASRA, KOWTON, SYNC 24, MB & CB

BASEMENT HOSTED BY GHETTO W/ ALI MACDONALD, SAMUEL PARIJ & GUESTS

9PM - 5AM @ THE RUSSIAN, 267 KINGSLAND RD, E2 8AS

FREE ENTRY BEFORE 11, £5 THEREAFTER

+ + +

Hot on the heels of our booming 2010 kick-off, we're back at E2's sleaziest rave-hole The Russian for more two-room, cross-genre skulduggery - now with extra subs. Musically, it's business as usual, with three of the UK's most exciting underground selectors primed and ready to let rip, plus added basement firepower from Ali Macdonald and his Ghetto crew.

Headlining is London's perpetually on-the-ball D&B mogul Kasra, whose Critical Recordings imprint has been responsible for some of bass music's most forward-thinking manoeuvres, bringing the likes of Rockwell and Stray to the world's attention, and releasing a string of peerless 12s from top-dog junglists Breakage, Calibre, SpectraSoul and Survival to name but a few. A seasoned DJ and increasingly pervasive producer, Mr Mowlavi was, sadly, unable to make our November birthday bash (boohoo), but it's all good as we welcome him along to help get us rolling for our third consecutive year at The Russian. Second up is a man who's been making all the right noises in dub-minded UK club music: Joe Kowton, aka Narcossist. With releases on Blackdown's imperious Keysound Recordings as well as the quietly superlative Clandestine Cultivations, he's already marked himself out as one of Bristol's hottest upstarts, gracing FACT mag with a lush mix of deeper house and techno that pricked many a discerning ear, and generally keeping things impressively heads down. Nice one. Finally, hot on the heels of his spiffing We Rock Non-Stop EP, we've got the Cultivated Electronics bossman Sync 24 dropping in to spin cartload of the rawest electro this side of Detroit. Representing the side of the genre unafflicted by dayglo shades and crack-chafing jeans, he'll be delivering more jacking breaks and pounding bass thank you can shake a cross-shaped taser at - which is all gravy by us.

MB, CB, Darkin and Foy are there as standard, whilst down in the basement, Ali Macdonald and Samual Parij - better know to eastside ravers as the minimalists - will be kicking off a brand new Ghetto residency that promises everything from house to techno through to freaked out jazz and funk, plus the odd special guest, with a strictly vinyl-only policy to boot. Respect. Entry remains locked at £5 post-11, or zilch if you make it down early, so do yourselves a favour and get on the case.

The Loft. The Loft In London with David Mancuso. Sunday, March 21st. @ The Light Bar, 233 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6PJ, 5pm - 12.30am

New York legend David Mancuso takes this mixed, friendly crowd on a 8-hour psychedelic voyage. A free buffet, beautiful balloons, talc on the floors, audiophile sound, a broad range of dance music (house, disco, funk, jazz, acid rock, etc.) and a welcoming house-party atmosphere all add up to a unique experience.

BLOGGER'S DELIGHT. BLOGGER'S DELIGHT LDN w/ Simian Mobile DIsco + Braiden. Sunday, March 21st. @ The Lock Tavern, 35 Chalk Farm Road, Camden, London, 3pm - 11pm

LINE-UP

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO dj set
BRAIDEN (RINSE FM) dj set
Casper C
Skull Juice
NikNikNik

The Blogger's Delight faithful among you will remember the first time Simian Mobile DIsco were unleashed in the 80 capacity 'Small Disco', some 3 years ago. Utter chaos reigned, with inebriated bar-staff leading the sweaty crowd from atop the bar. SMD were dance stars in the making, and the clued up crowd knew it. Fast-forward to 2010, and their ship has well and truly come in. You don't need your humble narrator to tell you that it should be even crazier this time around, as Jas pops in for a frenetic set encompassing their own productions (including and early listen to their new, stripped-down 'Delicatessan' series) alongside the requisite mutant-techno.

The unquestionable pulling power of our headliners enables us to blood a fresh face for the Blogger's crowd. Steve Braiden is the Rinse FM resident, and key player in the future-house/garage/whatdoyoucallit underground. He came to our attention for his eclectic, cerebral mixes that reminded us a little of the Blogger's residents themselves. No stone is left unturned from classic Detroit techno, 'real' electro, the best in bass culture, electronica and house. We expect a real feast for the senses from his key supporting role tonight. It's worth adding, he looks like the love child of our very own Casper C and Alex Skull Juice as well :)

Guiding you in from start to finish will be the faithful residents, Casper C, Skull Juice and NikNikNik... We shouldn;t need to remind you that this event is sure to be roadblocked, so do endeavour to arrive as early as you can, and book your space on the floor.

Disco Geisha. Disco Geisha. Sunday, March 21st. @ Notting Hill Arts Club, 21 Notting Hill Gate, London, W11 3jq, 4pm - 1am

Disco Geisha returns for our first party of 2010, still basking in the memory of our last event. We are back with everything you need for a Sunday afternoon-evening session. It sure won't be like a normal party as you can get early there for free entry with special happy-hour drinks and nice disco-jazzy vibes earlier on.
After 7pm we have three special live bands to kick-start your Sunday evening, with DJs playing house and techno to jack you later on.

Disco Geisha features resident DJs Tomoki Tamura (a prolific producer via Tomoki & Nonop and the club host too), Italian DJ duo Eightbitrate, Naoki Shimizu and Supermethod,Zorion(Techscover) &koma firing up minimal beats alongside deep disco and soulful house electronica. Disco Geisha is 'not too deep, nor too hard or banging,' says Tamura, and it attracts a cosmopolitan mix of British, Japanese and continental house connoisseurs - like all the best Sunday sessions.

What those other Sunday sessions don't have though is some special Japanese food, great geisha art on the wall and our ace bar-tenders to serve cocktails. And none of the house and techno-driven Sunday sessions that scurry around east London are bold enough to deliver a truly diverse musical mix early on that features three live bands:

This month we have got special live band Versus n°1 directly from Italy. Don't miss their rare UK show as the band, aka Dagon Lorai & Walton Zed, are two very distinctive and multi-faceted artists. Their performances together create a striking ambience, full of strange and theatrical elements. The play starts: a battle between the duo, fighting each other armed with guitars, trumpets, phonograph, poetry, painting, noises and screams...

Common Deflection Problems are three east London-based Italians, Antonio, Gianpiero and Mario, who have played together since 2008. As a result of their mixed musical backgrounds, Common Deflection Problems' sound has been influenced by grunge, stoner, indie, math and punk rock, and there's some jazz and prog vibes in there too. They produced their first EP "Naked", and collaborate with Brigadisco Records.

Dobly are a UK-based Japanese band whose multi-vocal lyricism and neo shoe-gazing sound immerse you in the soothing-yet-thrilling Dobly world.

Jazz Cafe & Wah Wah 45. Simon Says.... Thursday, March 25th. @ The Jazz Cafe, Camden, London., 7pm - 2am

On Friday January 8th, the Daddy of Wah Wah 45s and one of the Jazz Cafe's favourite DJs was sadly taken from us at the mere age of 44.

Simon Goss was the creator and owner of Wah Wah 45s and the big man, who rocked many a Friday night Wah Wah session at the Cafe over the years, died within just 3 months of receiving his lung cancer diagnosis.

For the warmth and compassion he extended to all, his wonderful sense of humour, his belief in new music and young artists and of course his uniquely eclectic DJ sets, he will be sorely missed.

He was, in truth, a real gentleman.

To celebrate this far too short life that was filled with musical goodness, we are coming together with the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, and a host of Simon's favourite artists, to party hard like The Daddy would have wanted, and raise a whole heap of money for this brilliant charity in the process. A jam packed bill with feature Wah Wah 45's songstress Stac, Tru Thoughts recordings' Belleruche, the incredible vocal talent of Bridgette Amofah, much lauded spoken word artist Polarbear, blue-eyed soul boys Talc, Acid Jazz recording artists The Filthy Six, and our latest discovery, the furious brass power of The Hackney Colliery Band. Not only that, but Simon's young and very gifted sons will be leading the way with their own Wah Wah 45s Players, and like everyone else, will be performing some of Simon's favourite numbers. Add to this a DJ line-up that includes Bonobo, London Elektricity & your favourite Wah Wah DJs (along with a couple of special guests from overseas) and you've got one enormous line-up, one big celebration, for one very good cause indeed.

Tactile. Tactile with Spatial and Jam City. Saturday, March 27th. @ The Horse & Groom, Shoreditch, 28 Curtain Road, EC2A 3NZ, 9pm - 4am

After a banging party at the Horse & Groom in January with Ikonika and Chris Box, Tactile returns to the venue in March to continue our new bi-monthly residency.

Joining us this time are Spatial and Jam City. Spatial has been making waves over the last year with his distinctive style of techno- and garage-infused dubstep, and Infrasonics has become a must-check label, with huge releases from Hot City, Ike Release and Spatial himself. He's an excellent DJ too: expect plenty of exclusive Infrasonics dubs along with tough, jacking techno and dubstep. To hear it for yourself check his recent FACT mix: http://www.factmag.com/2010/02/15/fact-mix-124-spatial/

We're also very pleased to welcome the outrageously talented and much-hyped Jam City. A lot has been said about him already but if you don't think Kwaito-influenced post-Grime house is your thing, go here and be persuaded: http://www.factmag.com/2009/10/19/fact-mix-93-jam-city/

Universal Vibes boss Paddy Freeform will be treating us to the best of all things deep and dubby, while Tactile residents Mirror Mirror and Tomas will be drawing for stripped down, blissed-out house and UK funky. Visuals from Sharp Sharp.

Rotkäppchen (LIVE & DJ)
http://www.myspace.com/rotkappchenmusic

Rotkäppchen, a magical English/German two-piece who play live electronic music and look like they’ve stepped straight out of a fairy tale.

Anne and Ian aka Rotkäppchen combine laptop, synths and several technical devices with live drums (played by Anne) to create non-stop danceable bassy electro sets. They play their own songs as well as remixed mash-ups of popular samples – making them a mixture of live band and live DJs.

As their name means ‘little red riding hood’ in German, they’re known for wearing red capes on stage which has become their trademark (and has also shaped their nick name ‘Cape Crusaders’).

Electro Funk Pioneer & legend Greg Wilson brings his beloved Revox Tape Machine to North London’s ace new Party venue, The Horatia for a free Easter Thurs knees up joined by the Horatia disco squad Dave ‘la Rave’ Rose, Neil Thornton, Guille Bo and friends.

please find details of the ‘Greg Wilson Easter Thursday special @ The Horatia’ A Special free Easter bank holiday party taking place on Thursday 1st April and as there is no school on the Friday, the venue is open till 4am so there will be plenty of time to hear a true legend and pioneer of the whole Electro Funk scene bring his beloved Revox Tape Machine to North London’s ace new 400 capacity boozer with a beautiful sound system to make you move and shake. Supporting the man will be the Horatia Disco Squad Neil Thornton, Dave 'la Rave'Rose and Guille Bo and friends which surely will prove to be one of the key parties of the Easter Bank Holiday if Greg's Credit to the Edit Volume 2 launch party is anything to go by last November when over 400 revellers danced the night away at at the Horse alongside Neil Dave and Guille.

Greg Wilson
Greg began DJing in 1975 and is regarded as one of the most important figures on the UK dance scene. He enjoyed hugely popular residencies in the early eighties at Wigan Pier and Manchester's majorly influential Legend. He was a pioneer of mixing in the UK and in 1983 he became the first 'dance music' DJ hired for a regular weekly session at Manchester's now legendary Hacienda club. Greg was instrumental in breaking the new electronic, post-disco records coming out of New York, a sound he has dubbed 'Electro-Funk'.

In 2003 he set up his own website (www.electrofunkroots.co.uk) to document this crucial era in the evolution of dance culture and, having retired from DJ work at the end of 1983, Greg returned to spinning tunes two decades later, receiving plaudits for his red-hot appearances at renowned nights including Electric Chair, Horse Meat Disco, Fabric, Back To Basics, Ministry Of Sound, Asylum, Melting Pot and the Sub Club, to name but a few. Before long he was picking up an ever increasing amount of bookings throughout Europe and, more recently, worldwide. In 2005 Tirk Records released 'Credit to the Edit', a compilation of re-edits spanning Greg's entire career, some even original tape edits from way back when (Greg still uses his trusty old Revox B77 reel-to-reel tape machine when DJing out). This wasn't his first compilation either, having collaborated on most of the tracks to appear on the Street Sounds 'UK Electro' LP in 1984, as well as being the selector behind the 'Classic Electro Mastercuts' LP in 1994. Other firsts for Greg include being the first DJ to mix live on British TV (The Tube in 1983), putting together the first UK radio mixes of their type for Piccadilly 261 in Manchester (beginning 1982) and showing a certain Norman Cook, then a young aspiring DJ called Quentin, how to scratch (Dec '83). Greg has written for magazines / webzines like Wax Poetics, Clash, Grand Slam and Discopia, and presented a monthly online radio series, 'Time Capsule', on Samurai FM. 2008 saw Greg go truly global, embarking on an end of year tour that literally took him right around the world, with dates in Japan, Australia and Brazil, following-on from a series of gigs in the US (a return to New York and his San Francisco and LA debuts). Now a firm favourite on the festival circuit in both the UK and Europe, he also played Ibiza for the first time in the summer of 08, including a terrace appearance at the famous We Love Sundays session at Space. Nominated by DJ magazine for outstanding contribution, and also named amongst their top twenty remixers of all-time, Greg's edits and mixes continue to feature on the playlists of DJ's in every continent. In January 2009 Greg's reputation was further enhanced when his Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 became something of an instant classic, receiving almost universal acclaim and, in the process, providing the perfect way to commemorate the 5th anniversary of a remarkable renaissance. Credit To The Edit Volume 2 was released in November 2009.

secretsundaze. secretsundaze w/ Morgan Geist and Nina Kraviz. Thursday, April 1st. @ a Secret Dalston Location, 9pm - 6am

Room 1 - Secretsundaze
Morgan Geist
Nina Kraviz
Giles Smith
James Priestley

Room 2 – Electric Minds
Ilija Rudman
Ray Mang
Dolan Bergin

Secretsundaze are proud to announce details of our Easter Thursday party taking place in a hot new underground venue in the heart of Dalston. This venue is fresh, only being utilised once before for an event. Taking place across 2 perfectly formed rooms working alongside our friends at Electric Minds this promises to the perfect way to start the Easter weekend.

In the secretsundaze room we have none other than Metro Area’s Morgan Geist. Morgan has definitely already left a long lasting legacy to House, Disco and Techno with his groundbreaking work with Metro Area alongside Darshan Jesrani on his Environ label. A highly regarded DJ and remixer too he has lent his touch to the likes of Hugh Maselka, Franz Ferdinand and Junior Boys amongst others and compiled and mixed a CD for the respected Fabric series. Making her secretsundaze and indeed UK debut we are also very happy to have the female touch with Nina Kraviz joining us. She has made a big impact of late with her unique sound on Underground Quality and Rekids and on a recent trip to Moscow, Giles was so impressed with her DJing skills that he had to invite her to play in London. Her sound is a healthy dose of old school House mixed with newer styles. Do not miss this chance to check her out. Of course secretsundaze all stars Giles and James will be present in the house.

Hosting the second room is London based label, Electric Minds. They welcome regular artist Ilija Rudman who has provided a constant stream of dance music under different guises. In addition to releasing for Electric Minds you can find Ilija’s tracks being picked up by the likes of Under The Shade, Wolf Music, 2020 Vision and of course his own label Red Music. In support is Ray Mang. Another talented musician and producer his productions have appeared on DFA as well as 2020 Vision who recently commissioned his excellent remix of 2020 Sound System’s “Ocean” which is due for release later this year. Raj is also a stellar DJ and will no doubt be pulling out a few surprises from his huge record collection. Electric Minds founder and resident Dolan Bergin completes the second room line up.

All in all this looks like one of the must go to parties of the Easter weekend with an amazing line up, the meeting of two of East London’s brightest stars secretsundazde and Elecric Minds and a brand new exciting venue. See you on the dance floor.

To The Bone. Tothebone present Snuff Crew. Friday, April 2nd. @ The Camp, 70-74 City Road, London, EC1, 10pm - 6am

Snuff Crew - live
Rik Moran,
Charlie TTB,
Dave TTB

Remember eating that sheet of paper in your cousin's drawer with all the Batman faces on it? Remember staring at the mirror and watching your eight year old face age a thousand years in the space of a single breath? Remember waking up in hospital and screaming at your dad because you didn't know who he was? Remember him telling you you'd technically been dead for the past three days? Well that's basically what happened to Jesus. And he still loves the acid. It says so on Discogs.

He's not the only one being brought back to life this Easter. It's been a year since we threw down the last TOTHEBONE party and we're marking our own resurrection with a thumping live show from Cologne jack track revivalists, Snuff Crew - two young bucks who've been destroying Europe's most discerning dancefloors with a live set that shows Phuture 303 up for the pussies they are. Don't tell them we said that.

Named in honour of their favourite inhalable tobacco product, Snuff Crew have put together a string of perfectly-constructed acid workouts for Playhouse, Hour House Is Your Rush and Gigolo Records. They've also been setting clubland aflutter with their live set - a throbbing hour-long jack-off that tore Berghain a new bumhole when they played there in January.

Download Snuff Crew live at Berghain, 02/01/2010: http://www.tothebone.co.uk/SnuffCrew_LiveAtBerghain_02.01.2010.mp3

And if you like deep, emotional house music played by shallow, inexpressive men, as always, TOTHEBONE's three fully-waxed residents will be rocking the dancefloor too.

Get down early for the inaugural TTB EASTER DOG EGG HUNT - a pioneering fusion of art, clubbing and gameshow. We'll be hiding fifteen golden dog poos in and around the venue, each of which wins its finder a life-changing sum of money. Or a mix CD.

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE

Transition. Transition with Wbeeza, Lakuti and Chris Box. Friday, April 2nd. @ Visions Video Bar, 588 Kingsland Road, Dalston, E8 4AH, 10pm - 4am

Transition is a new night based in the capital with an aim to bring the best in quality, underground electronic music to the people.

With a deep set focus on the finer end of techno, house and electro, the Transition launch party will come to light at the infamous Vision’s Video Bar located in the very heart of Dalston (right on the Dalston Kingsland junction)

To kick things off we have enlisted the talents and pure groove wizardry of Wbeeza, who’ll be performing live. Although reasonably fresh on the scene, Wbeeza is without doubt the most exciting House producer in the capital, and just from listening to his tunes, it's clear that this is a man who has a long running passion for his musical roots. So it's no surprise that Wbeeza has had 3 greatly received EPs on Guy MrCreery’s almighty Third Ear imprint, which has seen past releases from Detroit’s Delano Smith and dub-meistro Brendon Moeller.

Next up on the bill is the ever soulful, Süd Electronic and Uzuri mainlady Lakuti. Alongside Alan “Portable” Abrahams (aka Bodycode), Lakuti has kept busy pushing the underground sound for the heads in London for a long time with the Süd Electronic parties. Over 8 years of legendary parties have seen performances from the likes of Juan Atkins, Move D, Jus-Ed, Prosumer, Efdemin, Pantha Du Prince, Shed and more recently ‘man of the moment’ Levon Vincent… the list goes on. And on top of all that she has a forthcoming collaboration with Lerosa due out sometime in the nearer side of this year.

Closing up our first assault will be Chris Box of Runsounds, which, now in its fifth year of throwing some truly dapper parties, has brought in a wide array of international talent as well as heavily backing the local scene. Chris will be wrapping things up with his slick selection of techno induced waxploitation for those of you in need of a little more pump to the kick.

Warm up sounds will come from the Transition residents, slapping down all that makes them tick in the right way.

And if this isn't enough fuel for the fire, remember it's Good Friday, which, to many of us, means the beginning of a longer weekend...

For free entry be sure to arrive before 11pm. Entry will be £5 thereafter. Or... for a mere £3 on the door, simply confirm yourself on the roll call or add youself to our mailing list by dropping an email with your full name to transition.sounds@gmail.com. Deadline for mailing list and roll call confirmation will be 5pm on the 2nd April so you all have plenty of time to get yourselves, your friends and your friend's friends etc etc down for the fun.

By bus: 38, 56, 67, 76, 149, 242, 277 (get off at Dalston Kingsland juntion)
Nearest tubes Liverpool St or Old Street then catch the 67, 149, 242 or 243 towards Dalston

For this momentous occasion they are treating us to 3 Rooms of underground house, techno, dub and disco with a few birthday surprises and a birthday present for the first 600 people who purchase a ticket. To make things that bit extra special, mulletover have set a theme of ‘silver’. So whether you come donned as a disco ball or head to toe in tin foil, if you’re not coming in, unless you’re sporting some silver bling. The eccentric and slightly crazy DOP play live and headline mulletover’s own room. The French trio have re-energized house music over the past few years, almost reveling in bringing new sounds to their productions, taking cues from their past work in jazz, reggae, hip-hop and rock & roll bands, they’ll be giving a full demonstration of their uncanny ability to make experimental music danceable. Producer and DJ behind Simple & Aus Records Will Saul, will be treating us to his distinctive sound of deep, futuristic house, techno and disco with flashes of soul and irresistible melodies that hark back to early days of Detroit. Matt Tolfrey is a workaholic when it comes to his music production, with a seemingly tireless dedication to forging his own unique style. Joining mulletover for the second time, he will be drawing on his own hybrid strain of electronic funk. mulletover’s very own Geddes completes room 1 with his distinctly deep and appealing signature sound. The Resident Advisor crew bring gifts in the way of Levon Vincent, who is an honorary member of the tri-state’s Underground Quality crew Headed by label owner Jus Ed. He runs the Novel Sound label and also makes records for Deconstruct Music, a second label that he manages alongside longtime friend Anthony Parasole (of House n Home). Hailing from the talented family of CDR Sessions in London, Floating Points has been one of the most promising producers to watch out for this year with his various re-edits online have been spinned by the likes of Benji B, Gilles Peterson and Domu. Cottam has been hands down the biggest selling artist / label in Rubadub and other independent record stores in 2009. His unique brand of low slung house, disco, hip hop and techno is hard to beat with a DJ style is a bit like Surgeon meets Theo Parrish. Tayo presents the third room with Lean Left. The last few years have seen the boundaries blur to the extent categories no longer exist. LEAN LEFT will concentrate on all that the 4/4 groove can offer with Tayo himself will be playing a very specially crafted house set. Get Physical’s Heidi is the second addition to the Tayo room. Heidi is fast conquering the dance music world and her impeccable tune selection has landed her a monthly slot on the BBC’s ‘In New DJ’s We Trust’ show on Radio 1. Frank Tope, who has been turning heads as part of production duo Wild Geese joins Joe Ransom, winning hearts with his heads down shoulder shuffling house music under the name STICKS & STONES. Finally the eclectic wonderment of Anthony Hill from the website and style leader FACT magazine. Good ears, great music taste, and a DJ as tight as a mouse's ear.

ZOETROPE. ZOETROPE (...WISH is back). Sunday, April 4th. @ Cable, Bermondsey St Tunnel, London, SE13JW, 9pm - 6am

Dear friends, WISH is back!

Please join us on a trip through time to an unspecified point in the Victorian era. The air quality is poor as fires and gas-lamps light and warm London. To the east Jack is ripping. In Fleet Street Sweeney Todd is slipping Mrs.Lovett a bit of dodgy meat. The air may be poor but it is also full of heady ideas brought back from the east by travellers. Madame Blavatsky, Gurdjieff, The Hermetic Order Of The Golden Dawn and the spiritualists are also active. Houdini is on his way.

We have heard tell of a secret society with links to Peter Ackroyd's mystic Londoners - Dr. Dee, William Blake, the druids on Primrose Hill; the gypsies and cunning folk of the English countryside. After many years following clues, rumours and lies we find ourselves in the shadow of London Bridge. It is dark but both the bridge and the river below are a throbbing mass of humanity. We knock upon a heavy wooden door, whisper some words and slip within.
We are inside the ZOETROPE.

Confused modern people, a ZOETROPE is a form of optical illusion, a magic lantern where you can view images that appear to be moving. In the pre-TV days the Victorians loved that stuff. So, from one magic circle that enchants and delights to another as we request your presence on Easter Sunday evening (4th April) at a grand séance. The female forces behind Wish and Jaded, like the witches of MacBeth and the three graces of Ancient Greece, will be joining hands at London's most exciting new venue, Cable, and we will be summoning a combination of Wish and Jaded favourites, old friends and special guest DJs to manifest in its three rooms. The full and fearsome list of gods and demons is listed below. But it's not just magic for the ears that we will bring - Wish VJ Hobbyboy will be opening his box of tricks in the Wish room. He will have a Magic Lantern, an Alethiometer, and will be showing saucy daguerreotypes. Please also note that Cable has many lavatories so there will be no need to go in the doorway of Subway as there was in days gone by.

Those of you who are not in the grips of the Opium Poppy will recall that last year we promised you 3 wishes this year and this is the first of three Bank Holiday WISHes. It will be followed by a Wish in Paris on May Day weekend (Sat 1st) and then back to our old home at Gramaphone on the second May Bank Holiday (Sat 29th) . And, throwing aside the three wish limit, there may be a surprise in the great outdoors in July - calm down euphemism fans.

Enough of the future, back to the past - we will see you at Cable for some fanny by gaslight. Maybe Phileas Fog will return from his travels and bring us some chips and dips.

Joining the Warm & Discovery residents Ali Tillett, Rob Summerhayes, Neil Thornton, Dave Rose & Guille will be one of France’s finest producers of House, Techno and Disco as we welcome Parisian producer I:Cube making a very rare UK appearance. Nicolas Chaix aka I:Cube is not only one of the strongest talents out of Paris, but also on the international electronic circuit. He is the mastermind behind quite a few essential 12"s and albums and also has an impressive string of remixes under his belt. Nicolas is also one half of the superb Chateau Flight outfit, teaming up with his partner in crime, Gilb'r ( who also runs the Versatile imprint). Nicolas manages to cater to a wide range of musical tastes fusing deepest Technosoul, bottom-heavy dope beats and abstract House cunnings to create his inimitable I:Cube sound; an incredible talent hidden behind the ghosts in his machines. To finish off proceedings we will also be joined by some of our favourite London based friends over two rocking floors.

The 10th of April will see the first Süd Electronic Party for 2010 .

Our first party since our December outing which saw two blinding sets from Levon Vincent & XDB .

This time around we’ve put together a rather different beast .

We will be Celebrating the release of Tevo Howard’s rather classy ‘ - Crystal Republic album . Out now on Rush Hour’s - house sub label – Hour House is your Rush .

Tevo Howard is a rare Chicago find who is still putting out or playing quality music; steeped in the Chicago tradition as we know it and love. A sound championed by the likes of Ron Hardy , Armando , Larry Heard and many more .
Djaying since 1987 @ the age of 13 ; Tevo has found favour amongst the more discerning dj’s what with the excellent releases by himself as well as his dad Rick “Poppa” Howard on his very own Beautiful Granville imprint as well as on Hour House Is Your Rush .

In Honor of Tevo’s contribution and arguably electronic music’s last revolution way back then when Chicago’s dj fraternity pissed about with a Roland 303 and helped shape what is the Chicago sound now which is still relevant now as it was then ;
The whole night will be dedicated to Chicago related music from labels such as
Trax , Dj International , Play House , Dance Mania , SRO , House Nation Records , `Hot Mix 5 Records , Fierce Records , Relief + many more .

Tevo will be performing live and by live I mean a proper analogue live set with 2 drum machines + .

On Dj Duties we have invited 2 of the most revered dj’s from Berlin and our personal favourites : Prosumer & Tama Sumo who played a great back to back 6 hr set at Süd Electronic’s 8th Birthday last October .

Prosumer - Resident Dj @ Panorama Bar is somewhat of an expert in classic Chicago house and Detroit Techno & he gained these expertise first as a fervent record buyer at Saarbrücken’s Hard Wax branch, where he later started working behind the counter. It was the heyday of labels such as Prescription and Relief, the time for soulful house music, which still can be heard in Prosumer’s sets today.
An excellent dj with a huge passion for outstanding honest music from the heart , new and old .

Tama Sumo is also one of those passionate dj’s with an impressive taste in music and huge technical skills behind the decks evident in her excellent Panorama Bar 02 mix . Tama Sumo is a seasoned Berlin Dj who is now traveling different corners of the world spreading the good music .
She started out in 1993 at the Drama bar in Berlin / Kreutzberg, one of the first bars to ever feature its own dj’s on the weekends .
She has since played regularly at the Old Tresor , Ostgut and currently holds a residency @ Panorama Bar .

Resident Dj and Süd & Uzuri head honcho ; Lakuti will be on dj duties too .

We will be back at the ace basement of The Camp this time with even Longer hours .
Kick Off is @ 10 pm and the party will go on until 8am !!!!

Bleep43. Bleep43 w/ Mika Vainio, Donato Dozzy and Terrence Parker . Friday, April 16th. @ Corsica Studios, Corsica Arts Club, 5 Elephant Road. London SE17 1LB, 10pm - 6am

Finnish grandeé of Minimalism Mika Vainio headlines our first party this year on Friday April 16th at Corsica Studios. Although he has retired live outings of Pan Sonic for the forseeable future, he continues to play solo and we’re very excited about witnessing his primeval explorations of analogue-generated electronic sounds. Without doubt one of the more visceral and thought-provoking artists in European music, Vainio’s pedigree is vast - he is one of the true pioneers of minimal techno, evinced by his Sakho label, and the various projects he has masterminded. Put that together with Pan Sonic and his sizeable back catalogue of abstract sound works, some of which have been recently released by Raster-Noton, and you have an idea of just how influential he has been, both to electronic dance music, and to the more cerebral end of the genre.

Joining him in Room 1 is Donato Dozzy, who will be laying down another epic journey of hypnotic techno. We were enthralled by his stately ability to brew infectious atmospheres when he made his UK debut for us last year, and it was only a matter of time before he graced the decks again. 20 years of DJing has enabled Donato to call upon a weighty collection of abstract and obscure techno records, most of which you’ve probably never heard. We have no doubt that alongside Surgeon he’s the best techno DJ in the world right now and are excited by the prospect of yet another techno odyssey from him.

Flying over from Detroit for a rare visit to the UK is Terrence Parker. Something of a veteran turntablist in the Motor City, Terrence mixes house in a unique style, and we’re looking forward to him setting Room 2 alight. Making his Bleep43 debut alongside Terrence is DJ Guy, who has built up a strong following as Europe’s finest booty DJ. Formerly one-half of the Non-Stop DJs, Guy runs his own Global Fire label, and his style encompasses electro, house, disco and funk. Supporting them is one of our regulars, Phonopsia, who returns to Bleep43 after a 2 year absence.

Ether10. Stereo MCs vs The Bays + The Herbaliser. Friday, April 16th. @ Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London, 8pm - 1am

ETHER10☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻

Ether – Southbank Centre's annual music festival of innovation, art, technology and cross-arts experimentation – has long been presenting one-off collaborations and groundbreaking work from the likes of Kraftwerk, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke, and David Byrne.

This year it returns from 16 – 24 April with a mix of rock iconoclasts, rap trailblazers, audiovisual experimenters and contemporary-classical innovators.

Friday 16th April 2010
Stereo MCs vs The Bays
+ The Herbaliser (LIVE)
+ Tom Middleton
+ Kid Fiesta

One of the UK's most iconic bands, and with Mercury nominations, Brit awards and million-selling albums behind them, the Stereo MCs return to their home town to headline the opening night of Ether Festival in an event that takes over The Clore Ballroom and foyers of Royal Festival Hall. A very special collaboration sees the band joined by genre-busting, jazz/dance improvisers The Bays, as well as performing some of the songs from their six studio albums, most recently Double Bubble, that have made them talismanic figures in the UK dance scene.

Live support comes from jazz-infused hip-hop of The Herbaliser, who have been responsible for some of the most innovative and acclaimed sounds to have come out of London since their debut album Remedies was released on the legendary dance label Ninja Tune in 1995.

And if that wasn't enough, DJ support comes in the form of producer / remixer extraordinaire mr Tom Middleton, plus eclectic party starter Kid Fiesta.

A Night With.... A Night With... Matt John. Saturday, April 17th. @ a secret London location., 10pm - 6am

April 17th brings with it A Night With…Matt John, the second installment of the unique series of events, where each artist performs alone for the entireevening, presenting their own personal musical journey from start to finish, to a small and intimate crowd. A simple concept that is focused purely onenjoyment, it strips everything back to the bones to create an extremely special occasion for all those in attendance.Berlin based Matt John has recorded for prestigious labels such as Perlon and Jay Haze’s Netlabel Textone, as well as for the new Bar25 label. Getting intouch with techno sounds in the mid-nineties he followed his calling for electronic music and started playing all over Germany. He loves tocommunicate with the audience, catching them with his groovy beats and intelligent sounds, and further kicking them with new experimental inputs intoother dimensions. Matt Johns DJ-Sets establish new standards, combining three turntables and live equipment; he aims to stimulate communication between individuals, mirroring the harmonic cooperation of different souls. A Night With.. offers him the unique opportunity to develop this idea for the entire event.

Hosting monthly events, ‘A Night With…’ will take place in a small warehouse in East London. Part of an old leather factory, this 350 capacity is a breathtaking space that has never been used before. A Funktion1 system will be installed to deliver excellent sound, uniting music, atmosphere and experience in this new pioneering project for the broody London underground. After programming and promoting T Bar for 5 years and establishing it as one of London’s most influential and forward-thinking music venues, Derren Smart has moved on to set about this new project with Rob Star (mulletover/ Eastern Electrics/ Star of Bethnal Green).

Electric Ballroom. The Amazing Dj Krush. Thursday, April 29th. @ Electric Ballroom, 184 Camden High St, London NW1, 8pm - 12am

The Sensai returns to London for a solo show set to expand the minds of anyone in the vicinity of the Electric Ballrooms, following on from the battle with his protege Kentaro in October where to most present he maintained his place on the top of the turntablist ladder. With some exclusive tracks from the forthcoming new LP (out late 2010) this is a not-to-be-missed show for any fans of hip-hop, turntablism and progression!

DJ Krush is arguably the most gifted producer & DJ in the world with a superb sense in mixing and composing who's been lauded for years by both his domestic and the international audience. Probably the most revered and renowned Japanese musician alive; the very fact of this unprecedented esteem goes some way toward justifying his laurels alone.

Krush's introduction to hip-hop came like that of so many others, through the movie Wildstyle. But unlike most of us this single event inspired the young Krush to form a posse which immediately became the greatest in Japan where it remained until Krush went solo in '92, and on to even greater prestige.

He was also the first DJ to use turntables as live instruments, doing free sessions with live musicians on stage and comes at you in '08 as the battle hardened veteran of dance floor killing shows from here to Burkina Faso. Expect a live turntablism display unlike anything you have seen before.

London-based Tokyo child Anchorsong makes great music! Plain and simple. Heavy, technical beats laden with synth-harmonies and moving chord-changes, all set to the beautiful sound (and sight in this case!) of his all-girl string-quartet, he came reccomended to us by DJ Krush and the high-accolade is easily matched by his pure, raw talent.
