Red Bull Music Academy. DJ Harvey. Was On Friday, October 19th. @ Oval Space, 29 - 32 The Oval, London, E2 9DY, 10pm - 5am

Marking the end of a ten year self-imposed hiatus, Red Bull Music Academy is thrilled to present DJ Harvey’s return to the motherland for two, long-awaited UK comeback shows. Touching down in London on Friday 19th October, DJ Harvey comes to The Oval Space in East London for his first UK appearance in a decade. The following week sees him journey north, shaking the floor at Manchester institution The Warehouse Project for a Thursday night special on Thursday 25th October.

In a musical sense, the term ‘legend’ is an oft-liberally applied one. But, in the case of Cambridge-bred, USA-dwelling Harvey Bassett, it’s a description he duly deserves. In fact, he commands it. Famed for extended, all-embracing sets that tick off disco, rock & roll, Balearica, techno and electro-funk, Harvey has earned his stripes as the quintessential DJ’s DJ. Having popped up at some of Europe’s finest clubs and festivals over the past year – Berghain, RBMA's Sónar showcase, Robert Johnson, the list goes on – his return to Blighty is finally here.

A proficient drummer as a boy – his school band ‘Ersatz’ won a weighty nod from John Peel in the 1970s – it took a trip to New York and a love affair with hip hop to coax Harvey into DJing. As he saw it, cutting up breaks was but a natural extension of drumming. From his outlandish parties around Brighton, Cambridge and on the festival circuit, via residencies at Ministry of Sound, to his own night Moist hosting New York legends such as Larry Levan, Kenny Carpenter and François Kevorkian, DJ Harvey honed his craft to become one of the world’s most respected DJs. Not content with being a role model to his legions of supporters, DJ Harvey has joined the distinguished list of Red Bull Music Academy lecturers, inspiring the next generation of aspiring DJs with his charm and unrivalled know-how.

One half of the duo behind the Black Cock label – alongside Gerry Rooney – DJ Harvey has been responsible for a string of anthemic releases, and has remixed everyone from Jamiroquai to The Police, Cornershop to Ian Brown. Recent years have seen Harvey settle Stateside, hopping between gallery and event space Hotel Thirty Nine in Hawaii, his occasional ‘Sarcastic Disco’ parties in LA and other discerning discos in between.

Having hosted him for a seminal lecture for the 2005 edition of the Academy in Seattle, Red Bull Music Academy is pleased to be bringing Harvey back for some of his signature marathon-length appearances, channelling the party spirit of those original blow-outs and reaffirming the status of the man behind the legend, no doubt winning more fans in the process.

Ether Festival. Decasia with Aurora Orchestra. Was On Sunday, October 14th. @ Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, Southwark, London, SE1 8XX, From 7.30pm...

Aurora gives the UK premiere of Decasia, widely regarded as one of the great cross-arts collaborations of the past decade.

Constructed from severely decayed archival footage, Bill Morrison's hypnotic, stunningly beautiful film was cut to Michael Gordon's matching soundworld of decay, with a large amplified orchestra playing music that Alex Ross describes as 'wedding the hypnotic aura of minimalism to the detuned snarl of highbrow punk'.

Art of Dark 'Label Launch Party'. Tato ++. Was On Sunday, October 14th. @ MS Stubnitz, Millennium Mills, East London Docklands, 1pm - 11pm

Art of Dark is a label recently born from one of Londons most successful new parties. Beginning life as a secret, invite only adventure for those closest to house music’s cutting edge, it has since gathered together a collection of residents and regularly returning guests. The output of the label will consistently reflect the sound of that collective,;

This will be the first Art of Dark label showcase and an opportunity to bring together some of the central characters for a night focussed on the distinctive sound which the party and label is built upon. This will also coincide with the release of the 2nd E.P No Love Without Joy from Jack & I (featuring remixes from Egal 3 and Jack Wickham) with their 'Peep Show' having already dropped in early September to a huge response and support from the likes of Luciano, Maceo Plex and Terry Francis

Our good friend and Isgud Records boss Tato will jet in from Ibiza to join us at the top of the bill. He has regularly set the Art of Dark dancefloors alight and so we couldnt think of a more suitable guest to help us celebrate the start of a new journey together with the label now in full swing.

For this very special occassion we needed an equally special location and we are delighted to say that in the infamous Stubnitz we have found just that.

Moored in London originally for the ill fated Bloc Festival at Londons Pleasure Gardens the Stubnitz crew good friends of ours and so have offered the boat up as the setting for a once in a lifetime party.

Fuse. Davide Squillace. Was On Sunday, October 14th. @ 93 Feet East, Brick Lane, London, E1, 2pm - 11pm

★ DAVIDE SQUILLACE

★ ENZO SIRAGUSA

★ LUKE MISKELLY
...

Davide Squillace returns to FUSE this Sunday and judging by every other time he’s played for us, it’ll be a packed 93 Feet East.

After playing this summer at Kiesgrube together, Enzo Siragusa joins Davide Squillace on the line-up once again. These two have a very complimentary sound that means Enzo was the remixer of choice for Davide’s track with Philip Bader, Good Luck on the Romance Thing. The track - and Enzo’s remix - was received extremely well and you can download it here ahead of hearing it this Sunday: http://www.beatport.com/track/good-luck-on-the-romance-thing-remix/3756384

Enzo Siragusa will be playing after a very busy couple of weeks that sees him play in Berlin, Ibiza, Madrid and London. As always, he’ll be itching to get back behind the booth at 93 Feet East though.

Luke Miskelly completes this Sunday’s line-up. The DJ and producer is our latest resident to release on the FUSE imprint and his collaboration with Ittetsu has been positively received all over the world. Gutterlove and Sunny Side Up are firm FUSE classics now and we can’t wait to have these three huge talents destroy the dancefloor this Sunday.

Just make sure you get down early.
