So Join us for a night where disreputable behaviour is
guaranteed to have sensational results as once again Shoplifter provides the perfect setting for dishonest and light fingered people.

colour. w/ Ikonika. Was On Thursday, June 3rd. @ The Camp, 70-74 City Road, EC1Y 2BJ , 10pm - 4am

HYPERDUB has released three long players to date. IKONIKA's "Contact, Love, Want, Have" is the latest, and it has deservedly been hailed as one of the year's best. She's going to be headlining for us. Catch her before she dodges Eyjafjallajökull's clutches and embarks on her North American tour.

ALEX EGAN from SKULL JUICE is also joining this special lineup, which makes us especially proud - his recent work as ASTRONOMER has been everywhere recently. And we love his dj sets. Oh yeah, its also his birthday, so buy him a drink.

Finally, we have OI YOU! getting rambunctious like Busta Rhymes on "Scenario" to complete a perfect Pt 2 to a perfect Friday night.

Shake It. w/ Layo & Bushwacka!. Was On Sunday, May 30th. @ Bocking St Warehouse, Bocking St, London Fields, E8, 10pm - 6am

Layo & Bushwacka! return with their brilliant bi-monthly Shake It party on Sunday May 30th - and you got them all night long (almost).

The duo have had a very busy year so far – two road block Shake It parties, one being a special intimate warehouse gig with Carl Cox. A tour of South America, two excellent EP releases on their own Olmeto imprint – ‘The Longest Day’ and ‘Femme Fatale’ – supported by DJs across the spectrum, a heavy touring schedule taking them around the world and many upcoming summer gigs in Ibiza. And they show no sign of stopping.

Shake It is the only place in London you can get the proper Layo & Bushwacka! experience. Attention to detail, Shake It parties always bring you amazing music, atmosphere and people. The duo have created something very special in London town.

In our quest to not put down roots and to keep you guys on your toes, we've found an excellent new venue for you. The next Shake It takes place on Sunday 30th May (bank holiday weekend), this time out in the capital's East End. This new warehouse is ten minutes walk from Bethnal Green Market in the heart of London Fields, off Broadway Market on Bocking Street. It's a fantastic space, but after the sheer scale of April 1st we're dropping the size of this party down and making it a little more intimate and underground affair, a little more "boutique" if you will.

Tickets go on sale next week, and there will be early birds available at a very reasonable £10

In the meantime keep an eye on the Facebook and our website www.shakeitlondon.com

Ketoloco. Terrace Party w/ Julien Chaptal, Shonky & more. Was On Sunday, May 30th. @ The Light Bar, 233 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6PJ, 2pm - 11pm

Ketoloco are back in London Town and are set to illuminate the Light Bar once again on May 30th when Julien Chaptal, Shonky, Alex Niggemann and Craig Torrance all get their spin on.

After 3 scorching events last summer, it makes sense these party boys are returning to the same scene once again this Bank Holiday, and with their strongest line-up to date. UGrooveTV will be down to film as the party plays out, all afternoon, on the outdoor, sun-baked terrace in full view of London’s Gherkin Building and the City: it’s a private rave utopia in the midst of a crowded urban setting which feels so wrong it’s right.

Headlining is Dutch tech house star and Remote Area man Julien Chaptal – his tracky, groovy 4/4 dares you not to dance. Joining him is Freak ‘n’ Chick’s favourite Frenchman Shonky (who played the first “legal” Ketoloco event at My House after the basement parties got stopped in Leeds) with his deep space techno and house vibes just right for a summer party.

As if that wasn’t enough there will be some very du jour house sounds from Cecile man Alex Niggemann and more lovely 4/4 from Soma and Murmur man Craig Torrance, plus all the usual underground sonics reliably served up by the Ketoloco ressies.

Don’t expect just another lazy Sunday party from this lot – they’re about a whole lot more and will make full use of the indoor and outdoor areas of the red-bricked Light Bar, as well as a custom Funktion One sound system.

See you under the sun….

Move D

If talent converted into record sales, David Moufang would be a very rich man. His records with partner Jonas Grossmann as Deep Space Network and his own solo releases as Move D are among the furthest outreaches of techno's push towards the stars. Moufang grew up in Heidelberg listening to his parents' collection of early Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk records but the most overwhelming influence on his childhood was outer space, the result of a trip to the cinema with his father to see 2001: A Space Odyssey. "I was space crazy as a child," Moufang told journalist Tony Marcus in 1995, "when the other kids were riding around in their little cars I'd be building my own spacecraft. I'd put in a small engine, put rubber on the wheels so it made some noise and stand there with a walkie-talkie and my headphones on. It was very techno..."

Moufang's grandmothers were both classical concert pianists. He can still remember favourite childhood moments, sitting under the piano as they played, surrounded and lost in sound. By the age of 12, he taken up drums (he eventually went on to study classical percussion) and took up the guitar a few years later, this time taking lessons from two separate jazz guitar teachers. He played guitar in a band called Rivers & Trains well into the '90s. Occasionally he even plied his trade as a DJ, spinning electro, funk and jazz. It wasn't until 1989 that he discovered techno when a friend of his, D-Man, invited him to a club he was running in the industrial suburb of Mannheim. When Moufang walked into the Milk! Club that night - like so many others before and after him - he discovered a scene that changed his life. Discovering Detroit, 808 State, Nexus 21 and the first stirrings of ambient techno, Moufang became a committed clubber. Through D-Man, he met Redagain P who converted Moufang's nickname "Mufti" into the more kinetic Move D.

Moufang's first records were made with Grossmann as Deep Space Network. Their first two albums, EARTH TO INFINITY (1992) and BIG ROOMS (1993) suggested a significant, unpredictable and innovative talent which was confirmed by the release of HOMEWORKS (1993), a Source Records compilation that included solo tracks such as "Pulsar" and "I've Been On Drugs" alongside collaborations with D-Man. Ranging from subtle, Detroit-inflected grooves to wired electronic jazz, Moufang's music seemed to operate on ambience, slow motion and subdued rhythm, a sound that was rooted, as Tony Marcus later pointed out, "in the jazzy, laid-back but still hip-tugging tradition of Larry Heard, Carl Craig's "Microlovr" or "The Wonders Of Wishing" and New York's Burrell Brothers... listening to [Moufang's records] is like a sweet and lazy adventure into sound, a space where time and stress are suspended." REAGENZ (1994), a collaboration with SpaceTime Continuum's Jonah Sharp, was an astonishing fusion of beautiful, experimental electronics that reached out to a point that even Detroit's most visionary producers hadn't yet achieved.

You Are We. w/ Trus'Me (Prime Numbers) & guests. Was On Sunday, May 30th. @ Corbet Place, 15 Hanbury Street, Spitalfields, London, E1, 2pm - 11pm

YOU ARE WE returns to Corbet Place for another bank holiday weekend special on May the 30th. Following another road block session last month the You Are We vibe keeps on growing. This time round we've got more quality house music from a range of exciting guests.

We are very proud to announce that Trus’me will be headlining You Are We on the 30th of May. A true Detroit house & techno aficionado, his production and DJ sets draw influence from 70’s soul, disco, jazz and funk. Trus'me musical roots trace way back to an early age where he dabbled with various instruments. He began studying production, but soon developed a love of vinyl culture which shifted his focus towards the art of mixing and digging for unique samples. Surrounded by experienced Manchester based producers and DJs his musical taste has continued to evolve, resulting in eclectic DJ sets where his passion exudes. Naturally, this diversity shines through in his production with support coming in fast from a wide variety of artists.

Next up we have Tom Craven. Tom’s been influential in developing the foundations of two of the best parties in the UK.- Below in Birmingham and Dirty Disco in Leeds. HE is also the main man behind BackToFront, throwing legendary parties in some of the craziest venues in Manchester. During the summer of 2009, Tom set up a new event, BASIC, with Subb-an (One Records ) and Ryan Hope (Pete's 50th); an event with no set venue, city or country, just an excuse to gather friends from around the world in amazing locations. With the first two events in London (458 Warehouse) and Berlin (Weekend Club) creating an amazing buzz and a secret roof terrace party planned in Barcelona during the Sonar festival in 2010 it’s clear to see Tom knows how to rock a party so it’s a pleasure to welcome him back once again to YOU ARE WE.

Playset aka Tom Roberts and Ashley Wild are the main Residents and guys behind the You Are We sound. 2010 looks to be a busy year for Playset as they move towards production releases and appearances further afield. Their sound has always been influenced heavily by soul and roots and You Are We will present another opportunity to catch them moving between eclectic and inspired house cuts.

Sandeman & Mr Dickie complete our line up. Regular guests at You Are We they are very much part of the You Are We family. Stalwarts on the London scene they are busy working on productions and have released on Ifidota, the label linked very much with their London residency Family Affair. The boys are also behind the hugely popular Heroes and Villains parties and upcoming warehouse events in collaboration with Leftroom records. They also have nice hair.

Last time the new door system worked brilliantly so the decking will remain fenced off on the 30th of May. In addition, last time we were supposed to have a cloak room but we had a staff shortage due to illness on the day so please be assured that this time you will be able check your jackets. We are even looking forward to some much needed sunshine...but that one’s out of our hands!
