SOME INFO ABOUT DANIELE PAPINI

BIO::
Daniele has a passion for music and this is evident when you first meet him. This man lives and breathes music so much that his home is just one big studio. Daniele started Djing during his early 20’s and quickly gained a residency in several clubs in Florence in the late 90’s. Soon after he secured guest DJ slots at many clubs around Europe. His passion for DJing and music soon turned into a want to produce and after a chance meeting with Alen Sforzina in Croatia founded the GraFit Project. Their first collaborations were released on Italian labels like Urban Mantra and German labels such as Stadtwald and Toneman. In 2004 he start to work hard in studio and during this period, walking through the backyards of techno music, Daniele met Italian DJ and producer, Riccardo Ferri who in turn introduced him to the Alchemy Records family. In 2006 Mauro Picotto asked Daniele to join the Meganite crew as a DJ. Daniele agreed and his DJ career once again took off and he was performing all over the world again touring with the Meganite brand. Over the last 5 years Meganite has become a well respected brand, not only in its home in Ibiza but worldwide and Daniele has been at the forefront of their parties.Hard work in the studio has definitely paid off with Daniele releasing one of the biggest tunes of the summer, ‘Church of Nonsense’. Released in May 2008, just before the summer, it rapidly became an all-time techno anthem. Church of Nonsense received great feedback from every top DJ, topping the charts on the Beatport techno chart and the DJ Mag downloads chart. Daniele is currently working on several solo projects and remixes, collaborating with other artists from electronic music to indie music and working on a Live set.

Make Me. w/ Lee Curtiss. Was On Friday, July 9th. @ The Russian, 267 Kingsland Road, London, 10pm - 4.30pm

For our July party we have something really special - one of our favourite DJs, and a true star of the scene is coming back for a super-extended session of deep techno, cerebral house and unhinged antics. Like Lionel Richie, he's going ALL NIGHT LONG!

LEE CURTISS | ALL NIGHT | (Get Physical, Spectral, Wolf + Lamb)

Having totally blown us away at our February party with a 3 hour set, Lee specifically requested to come back and play for the whole night - from start to finish we're talking nearly 7 hours of tunes. This is a rare opportunity to see a true master of his craft digging way deep into the crates, in an intimate sub-200 capacity venue. Having seen him drop Billy Ocean and Neneh Cherry the last time he came down, I have literally no idea where he'll take us this time, but I can tell you it's going to be one of the sets of the year.

A constantly changing and ever-eager student of his craft, Lee’s finger has been pressed on the pulse of underground dance music for a decade, and his production skills and intricate and carefully crafted live PA and DJ sets have garnered the attention of techno and house music’s elite. He is a close friend and long-time collaborator of such luminaries as Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves and Ryan Crosson, who between them have released some of the most hyped and accomplished house and techno hybrids of the past few years.

With releases on seminal labels such as Get Physical, Wolf + Lamb and Spectral Sound, and headline sets across Europe and America we're fully expecting Lee to once again take the roof off The Russian, and make us throw some serious shapes in the process. This is one not to be missed!

LEX (Make Me)

In the basement will be old school disco master and long time friend of Make Me Lex, dropping retro bombs into the early hours.

MAKE ME RESIDENTS

As always providing the slickness, the deepness, the badness and the sickness.

We will also be boosting the sound upstairs in The Russian with a sick little mackie rig. See you down the front!

This event addresses CENSORSHIP.
Is CENSORSHIP really appropriate?
Do individuals have the right to say whatever they wish even if this offends someone else?
Does CENSORSHIP have the effect of making art more appealing, more glamorous, and more exciting?
Is it controlling and arrogant to suggest the public needs protecting?
Is CENSORSHIP about what’s morally wrong or obscene, or is it subjective?

CENSORSHIP surrounds us, be it freedom of speech, censorship of art and culture, freedom of expression or removal of media that’s deemed to be harmful, insensitive, objectionable, embarrassing or inconvenient to those in power. Thankfully it’s extremely hard (if not impossible) for those in authority to control our personal choices and forms of expression because in order for us to be controlled we must all think the same way, which of course is never really going to happen.

Curated and produced by Oliver Frost and Marc Massive and now in its 8th year, ACT ART is an underground event that takes place twice year, merging art, fashion, pop and club culture. ACT ART programmes experimental, radical, challenging, non-mainstream work that’s sometimes difficult to watch, or be confronted with, by emerging and established artists working in all media. ACT ART offers a space for those who are willing to take risks, have something to say (be it political, confrontational, beautiful, or ugly) and where censorship is not an issue. ACT ART aims to bring different people together, brake down social barriers, steer away from the cliquey art world (and its politics) and make art more accessible and fun whilst still remaining thought provoking.

Ketoloco. Summer Special w/ Illario Alicante. Was On Sunday, July 4th. @ The Light Bar, 233 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6PJ, 2pm - 11pm

Heyup,

I hope you're all enjoying the start of the summer! Thanks so much to everyone who came down to the last party. It was rammed to the rafters right through until 11pm and the vibe was great. Sorry again to anyone who struggled to get in, make sure you get your tickets early this time.

Well, the weather has been great lately and we reckon it's the perfect time to let you know about our second all-day party. We return to The Light Bar in Shoreditch on Sunday 4th July for another daytime terrace session. This time we welcome Cocoon favourite Ilario Alicante all the way from Italy. With a talent for reading the crowd and turning dancefloors upside down we are more than excited about this headline set from Ilario.

Support takes the form of fellow Italian Massimo Licari who is resident for daytime party spcialists M + H and Aperitivo, and has appearances for Circoloco under his belt! We also have Chris Stanford from Techno outfit Lost Souls and our good friends Jamma & Max from Bread & Butter on board for what promises to be the tastiest summer event to date.

Peas Out ;0)
